Industrial OT/SCADA/ICS Security

Connected industry. Risk no one sees.

IT/OT convergence created new attack surfaces in industrial environments. We assess PLCs, SCADA networks and the IT/OT boundary without disrupting your operation, with ICS/SCADA-certified specialists.

OT was designed to run, not to be secure

PLCs and SCADA systems were built before cybersecurity existed as a discipline. Connecting them to IT networks and the internet created attack surfaces no manufacturer anticipated. Stuxnet, Industroyer, TRITON, all attacked environments that would "never be a target".

Industrial sectors we serve

Energy and Utilities

Power plants, energy distributors, sanitation, gas and oil.

Manufacturing

Automated production lines, industrial robotics, integrated MES/ERP.

Oil and Gas

Refining plants, pipelines, offshore platforms, field SCADA.

Food and Beverage

Process control, production automation, cold chain.

Pharmaceutical

Bioreactors, controlled clean rooms, system validation (GxP).

Industry 4.0

IIoT, industrial edge computing, IT/OT integration with the cloud.

What we assess

Complete coverage of the industrial attack surface, from the field network to the corporate ERP.

OT Network Architecture

  • IT/OT segmentation (Purdue Model)
  • Industrial DMZ
  • Industrial firewall / unidirectional gateways
  • Remote access points (VPNs, jump servers)
  • Inadvertent internet exposure

Field Devices

  • PLCs (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider)
  • RTUs and IEDs
  • HMIs and panel operators
  • Outdated firmware
  • Insecure protocols (Modbus, DNP3, BACnet)

SCADA/DCS Systems

  • SCADA platforms (iFix, WinCC, Wonderware)
  • Historian servers
  • OPC DA/UA security
  • Authentication and access control
  • Patch management on legacy systems

IT/OT Convergence

  • IT → OT attack vectors
  • Active Directory in industrial environments
  • ERP/MES integration with SCADA
  • Vendor and third-party connectivity
  • Windows endpoints on OT networks

Methodology: availability first

01

Passive Inventory

Asset discovery without disruption, critical first. We use passive capture of industrial traffic (Modbus, DNP3, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET) to map without affecting operations.

02

Architecture Assessment

Documentation review, interviews with automation engineers and physical validation of network segmentation. No assumptions, direct verification.

03

Vulnerability Analysis

Passive or light active scanning (within an approved maintenance window). CVEs in firmware, insecure protocols, default credentials and misconfigurations.

04

Controlled Testing

Exploitation testing ONLY in a staging environment or during scheduled maintenance windows. No testing on live production without explicit approval from operations.

05

Executive + Technical Report

Two audiences: leadership (business risk, operational impact, prioritization) and engineering (technical vulnerabilities, specific remediations per device and system).

Why DumoSec for OT/SCADA

ICS/SCADA Certified

Specialists with ICS/SCADA certification. We do not repurpose IT pentesters, our team understands PLC, HMI, historian and industrial protocols.

Security without downtime

A methodology that prioritizes operational availability. Passive tests first, active tests only in approved windows with operations present.

Protocol expertise

Modbus, DNP3, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, IEC 61850, OPC DA/UA, not just generic. Specific analysis of each industrial protocol in scope.

Report for two audiences

A technical report for automation engineering and an executive risk report for leadership and the C-suite. The right language for each audience.
